Welcome to Splatsville: City of Chaos! The salmonids are stronger than ever before, Mr. Grizz is up to something...but what? The new band, Deep Cut has a little secret too. All you have to do is to go into the sewer. Catch ya later!
3 teams from each Splatfest sides battle in a Turf war with a fun spin to it: There is a defending team tasked with protecting the Ultra Signal. The attackers will use the Signal to contact Deep Cut. If that happens, Deep Cut will send a giant sprinkler with your color to ink more turf.
When the Salmometer is at 100%, Either one or all 3 of these will appear after all 3 waves. You and your team have to splat them by launching Golden eggs at them. At the end, regardless if you won or not, you will be rewarded with scales. Trade them in exchange for gear, banners, or locker items.
Marina felt bad for all the Sanitized Octarians down in the deep. So, she made a simulation with octoling programmers where Pearl as a drone leads them up a tower, gaining memories at the top. Somehow, there is a glitch that caused everyone in Inkopolis with a phone to be sucked in.
Welcome to the Memverse, Agent 8.
The spire grows to 30 floors and if Eight loses all their lives, they have to start all over. When they get to the top again, Order takes an octopus form and explains its plan: Suck everyone into this simulation and remove all free will and memories. That is grayscaling. Of course, Eight won't allow this. They splat Overlorder for Pearl to deliver the final blow. She summons a Color Wail to yell so loud, it breaks Order's code. Now, it is a tiny octopus called Smollusk. It explains that the octarian programmers wanted a world of order, where nothing changed, ever. Over time, Smollusk learns that free will is a basic right.
On the first climb, Marina isn't there and Pearl is a drone. You have to look for her at the top of the spire. In the elevator, you guys meet a partially sanitized octoling named Acht. She says that this elevator goes up one floor at a time and that after every floor you clear, you get a color chip that powers up your weapon. Each floor has a different objective. Said objectives are: destroy portals, splat specific Jelleton enemies, get the Turbine Tower to the goal, keep the Splat Zones, and take the Infinity Balls to the goals. When they get to the 10th floor, Marina is in a mess of wires, speakers, and Jelletons. She says something about "grayscaling" chaotic dissidents, which makes it clear that she isn't herself. After the boss battle, the glitch Order rises up from the wires and kicks Eight, Pearl, Marina, and Acht out.
They all can go in and out of the Memverse at will, climbing up the spire and reconfiguring all the other trapped souls in the weapon palettes. Eight now enjoys hanging out with their friends without having to experience horrors.
